How To Differentiate Original Or AP Phone

Many people are concerned whether the phone they bought is original phone or AP phone. The so-called original phones have SIRIM verification while those don’t have it are AP phones.

Want to verify whether your phone is the original phone? It is very simple, just download this app called "Check Your Label"!

Step 1: Download the free "Check Your Label" from App Store or Google Play Store. (IOS users click here, Android users click here)

Step 2: After you finish downloading and installing, you can see the following screen.

Step 3: Now you can choose to use IMEI code for your phone verification. After you have key in  the IMEI code, the system will help you check whether the phone is original phone.

For your information, IMEI code is like a cell phone’s ID card, so each phone's IMEI code is unique. If you want to get the IMEI code, you can see the back of the phone body, or enter "* # 06 #" on your dial pad!

There will be two kind of situations: First, your cell phone has been certified by SIRIM, so you can rest assured it is an original phone. The second situation, the system will give you a warning notice to tell you that the phone is not the original machine and potentially hazardous.

However, you don’t have to be over alarmed when you get the warning. It doesn’t mean that your phone is really posing a harm and can’t be used. This notification just tells you that your phone has not been certified by SIRIM, it is 99.99% an AP phone.

So, what is the difference between an original phone and an AP phone?
Basically, every smartphone should be certified by SIRIM to be sold in the market, but some phones skip the verification process to save time and shipping costs, which is why AP phones are cheaper.

But in fact AP phones are also original production just that they aren’t certified. Some AP phones from foreign countries may also have the option of "regional lock-in", in which they can’t be used for the telecommunications service here. Although the seller provides a 12-month warranty period, it is quite troublesome.

Unlike AP phones, the original phones has the local factory to provide warranty, allowing users to have more confidence.

If you purchase your smartphone via a local carrier (Digi, Maxis, Celcom, U-Mobile) or an official store (Samsung, Huawei, Sony, etc.), rest assure it is definitely the original phone. You might want to download the app to try.
